Irish Artist

My photo
Marilyn Gaffney Artist
'Marilyn Gaffney’s works, in two and three dimensions, at Moxie Gallery, Dublin 2, are very impressive' - Aidan Dunne, The Irish Times, June 2013. “A deeper philosophical enquiry undercuts the aesthetic charm of her work, repeatedly revisiting themes of time, space, body in addressing the overarching theme of memory.” - Rhonda Tidy, catalogue text 'Back to Eden'. "Gaffney has an "acute eye"....portal in to another dimension, the work is like time travel" - Cormac O'Leary, visual artist. Marilyn Gaffney, visual artist, is interested in psychology of the unconscious and in particular repressed emotions. "I am investigating this under the notion of urban and rural memory as I am interested in the landscape. My work is based on psychology; particularly the repressed memory and personality traits. I concentrate on how people react to each other in certain situations and how past events in their life affect them at present. I create illustrative drawings using mixed media". Marilyn hold's a Masters in Fine Art from National College of Art and Design. BA Honours Degree from Sligo IT.
